Cistern Decontamination
In the wake of one of the worst hurricanes in history, the hospital on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands was left with a contaminated water cistern, rendering its water supply unusable. In order to maintain operation, the hospital was forced to transport desalinated water over land at great expense. Industrial Hydro-Blast was contracted to clean and sandblast the cistern, apply a protective coating to all interior surfaces, refill the cistern, and chlorinate the water supply. The cistern was repaired to specifications and restored to service, dramatically reducing the cost of water desalination for the hospital.
